Low Cost Counselling at FVST

Welcome!

Fraser Valley Sex Therapy would like to offer a warm welcome to our new counselling practicum student, Sarah Busch, who will be joining the FVST team and offering low-cost virtual counselling services as she completes her clinical training experience. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and couples seeking accessible, professional support at a reduced rate. Sarah's practicum experience will be supervised by Shauna Burns-Thomson, RCC, Certified Somatic Sex Therapist, and Diplomate of Clinical Sexology, ensuring clients receive safe, ethical, and high-quality care.

We are excited to support Sarah's growth as a developing clinician while continuing to expand our commitment to offering trauma-informed and inclusive counselling services!

If you are interested in booking sessions with Sarah, please reach out to info@fraservalleysextherapy.com to set up your free 15-minute consultation to determine if she will be a good fit!

*Note, because Sarah is not yet a Registered Clinical Counsellor, her services can not be covered through extended health benefits. As such, her rates have been reduced to make sure services are accessible!

Sarah's Bio

Hi, I’m Sarah (she/her)!

Whether it’s your first time reaching out or you’ve been to counselling before, I know how vulnerable it can feel. I care deeply about creating a space where you feel seen, respected, and safe to explore your inner world.

Sexuality, identity, and connection can be complex parts of being human. Many of us carry shame or uncertainty in these areas, especially in a society that often marginalizes diverse experiences. I believe that all identities, expressions, and ways of relating are valid. My work is rooted in a trauma-informed and socially aware approach, and I place compassion at the centre of how I show up. In our work together, I’ll support you in exploring your story, shifting what no longer serves you, and moving towards what feels meaningful and right for you.

My approach is collaborative, adaptable, and grounded in relationship. I work integratively, drawing from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), as well as narrative, mindfulness-based, and somatic practices. This allows me to tailor our work in a way that feels responsive and attuned. My background as a public health nurse also informs my work, particularly around sexuality and holistic wellbeing.

Outside of my role as a student counsellor, I’m also a daughter, sister, auntie, and community member. You can often find me outdoors, cooking for loved ones, lost in a good book, or learning Spanish. As a white, settler, cisgender woman, I strive to be accountable for how my own identities show up in the counselling space. I live and work on the unceded and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

If what you’ve read resonates with you, I’d be honoured to connect and support you in whatever you’re navigating.
